This is a good Chinese-styled Japanese historical garden, completed by Tokugawa Mituskuni of Mito (a long time favorite figure of the Samurai dramas as a legendary retired vice-shogun who goes on a trip around Japan saving the commoners from corrupt officials).
I lowered the rating a bit, as I recently visited in winter (beginning of March) without much greenery and...

The Koishikawa Korakuen Garden is worth a relaxed 90 minute visit to explore the varied landscapes and myriad of beautiful vistas. It has a central lake and island, and a secondary "Lake" and island. It has paths through "mountains", swamps, flower gardens, orchards, water ways, a rice paddy and so on. It has 2 very beautiful bridges. You are given...

See if you can hit up a baseball game the same day. Right next door. Tranquility in the middle of the city.

Found this oasis of calm, more or less by chance, on a particularly hot day in July. Just the place to recharge the travelling batteries - and the scarlet dragonflies are especially exciting to British eyes! Plants aren't bad, either...
Beautiful park in a central location. Many pretty spots but beware of hundreds of mosquitos on a hot and humid day when you go near a pond. Don't miss the red Tsutenkyo bridge - it's very pretty and very japanese (and that was where the serious mosquitos attack took place!!!)
Absolutely wonderful little park full of fish that follow you around and beautiful landscapes right in the middle of Tokyo.
We found this gem in the middle of Tokyo. It cost a few dollars (about 3 US) to visit and it was well worth it. It had a beautiful lagoon, many paths, fish, ducks and some of the most beautiful trees I've ever seen.
Is supposed to be at its peak in autum in the fall.
