We stayed near Hana and set out for this hike fairly early to beat the crowds. We ran across a few people but for the most part were alone on most of the trail. Definitely recommend good walking shoes as the trail is not even and smooth. You may have to cross a stream or two. Bamboo forest is cool.... More

Enjoyed the hike through bamboo forest. Trails did tend to get crowded at times. This could be a problem during the busy time of year.

Nice walk and as with most everything in Maui, just so naturally beautiful! This can be walked by any fitness level, don't forget the camera there are many spots for photos that will become beautiful memories.

Lots of scenic points a long the way including waterfalls, a bamboo forest, several streams and a huge waterfall at the end. No bathroom so go at the visitor center ahead of time. The hike was fun and the trail was in good condition. At 61 years old I was concerned about making it all the way but passing people coming down assured me it wasn't bad. I will do it again next trip to the island, the falls are worth the effort. Do take a bottle of water or even two.
