Great place to chill after walking all day, sit and people watch with live music. The church is amazing and some afternoons, they had a few artists going round with their live street parades

I love looking inside big, old cathedrals when I visit other countries. There's so much history in them, I love thinking what it must have been like for the citizens back in the day when it first opened it's doors for worship. It's cool to stop by this square to look at the Cathedral where Christopher Columbus' remains were kept for about 100 years until it was taken to Spain. There is also an artist community nearby where you can watch artists working on their craft.
We have been there several times, drinking a mojito or excellent coffee. But the best thing you could do is have dinner there, sitting on the blue balcony of the restaurant. Try it, and dream away!
I loved the architecture and that it had stood the test of time. From the outside the cathedral looks rather unmaintained but once inside, the decor appears to be well maintained (relatively at least).
Although the cathedral interior is fairly nondescript, the Plaza is full of life, especially in the evenings. Have drinks and/or dinner at one of the restaurants and listen to the live music. Lots of photo ops!
It's a charming place in Havana Vieja. Very picturesque, especially when the small trees growing there are in bloom! Lot's of shade and places to have coffee, too.
An attractive cathedral square with fascinating shops and good eating/drinking nearby. The artisans' shop in the square had interesting and cheap items for sale.
A beautiful location, keep your fingers glued to your cameras and snap away at the locals against a backdrop of architectural awesomeness! Breathtaking!
Very interesting. Be sure to get a guide to tell you the history of this area, especially the cathedral. The plaza is especially beautiful at night. One feels as if he is living in another era.
