The Vermilion Lakes are beautiful. This is the place to go if you want somewhere a bit quieter. If I had more time on this vacation, I would've walked there, and sat out on one of the docks reading for hours. There are several little docks which were really nice to go out and walk onto to enjoy the views... More

Excellent trail to the lakes and a simple easy route for those who want an easy after dinner walk on way out or into town. For the more ambitious, you can walk all the way into Banff. A very quiet spot when we were there and there are new toilets at the main street entry. If you are looking for... More

We went out to the lakes in the evening hoping to see wildlife. Not much to be seen, but the surrounding mountains are reflected in the still lakes and the photographic opportunities are good.

I love this place especially the way the mountain reflects down to the water as the sunsets. Our picture is so majestic looking and so unreal that it looks like a postcard. It is a lovers perfect place to take a memorable photo.

We did go to the two lakes, however not much to enjoy. It is good to visit once, but after going to Minnewanka, Bow, Peyton, etc lakes, these do not seem to be spectacular. We went there at the end of day too.

I went there at 5:30 in the morning to click a few shots of Mount Rundle at sunrise. And I returned in the evening (9pm!) to shoot the reflection of the mountain during sunset, when the sun rays from the west light up the snow covered mountain. There is a road that runs parallel to one side of the lake... More

The lake is ten minutes drive from Banff and would recommend taking the longer route from the west side of the road which is in the form of a loop. The view of the lake and its surrounding from the road at the periphery of the lake is nice. Could not take the boat ride as it was misty because... More

Short distance from downtown Banff, you can bike or drive to this picturesque lake. The Legacy Trail goes right past and continues past this lake. We saw grey heron and lots of other birds.

there is nothing much to enjoy here. We went there and were dissappointed. The water in this lake is not heavy. and light lakes doesn't have a beauty.

I expected more. This was a rambling peaceful drive along side small lakes that provide sanctuary to local birds. Biggest drawback is that runs alongside a major highway.
