I went to the Glenbow at the end of April to see two temporary exhibits that were just about to finish: “Made in Calgary: the 1960’s” and “No Roads Here: Corb Lund’s Alberta”. The first exhibit focussed on the Calgary art scene and artists from the 1960’s. I’ve been getting interested in this subject, and found the exhibit quite interesting... More

Good combination of art and history museum. The 2nd floor is Canadian art and a special exhibit on Budhist and Hindu art. I had not seen most of the Canadian artists on display. The 3rd floor is dedicated to Alberta history. Very good displays that trace the history of the province. Good for a couple hours of leisurely tour. Located... More

Located across from the Calgary Tower on 9th Avenue SE, this is one of Canada’s largest museums. After paying a $14 adult admission each time, I checked my backpack in at coat check. On my first visit, I saw the art exhibit on Charlie Russell and the First Calgary Stampede held to celebrate the Calgary Stampede's centennial. It turned out... More

We were there for about 2 and a half hours and still had not seen everything. A great combination of museum displaying the history of the Calgary area including First Nation people's history and lifestyle, development of oil and gas industry and gemstone/ rocks/ crystal display coupled with exhibitions of art and photography. On our visit the highlight was a... More

The Glenbow is a great place for special presentations throughout the year. It is also a depository of Alberta history. Like many arts groups in Alberta it is greatly underfunded, and cannot display more than a miniscule fraction of its vast resources. However, it does its very best and well worth a visit.

The history covered in this museum is rich, and although they offered some items of interest for young ones, it's primarily an adult attraction.

Having toured many museums in England this spring, I have to say the Glenbow is on par for some of the more famous museums I know about. Their displays are informative, well marked and the museum is easy to navigate.

The Glenbow Museum is visitor friendly and easily accessed by C Train(Centre Street or City Hall stops). I thought that the $14 admission fee was most reasonable especially since one can go out of the museum and return later on that same day without an additional charge. It was easy to get information to plan a visit on their web... More

I like the sections on the oil and lumber industry, the Native Americans and the mavericks that helped settle Calgary. It is very interactive and bright.

The Glenbow has always been a part of Calgary. Still enjoy the odd trip through 50 years later. The thing that bothers me is that some of the things they have on display I knew when they were new. Hope you enjoy the visit.
