Maybe there's a certain time of day when it becomes a magical place but mid morning left no special impressions with me. Strathcona is what it is an old town engulfing a sprawling metropolis, something you find in every city in North America. The architecture is period but not unique. The traffic is steady and smog quite present. It was... More

This is a mixture of turn of the century buildings mixed with some uglier fifties / sixties style buildings which seem to work. It has more or less become a bar district, but with the farmer's market and some of the funkier stores can be a pleasant place to spend a Saturday morning. There are a lot of good restaurants... Great area with a great feel. The farmers market was nice, fringe was interesting and lots of good energy.

The history of this place is fenomenal. You can read about Strathcona from boards located round the Old Strathcona. People have their fantastic style. My favorite place is Starbucks Cafe at Whyte.

Lots of shopping and dining places. Many of the pubs and bars seem to have stories. Certainly worth a walk along the street day or night - lots of activity always happening. Transport here is also easy - defintely a popular and trendy area

I love this area of Edmonton, it's full of really individual shops and quirky places to eat. A great place for finding something really different to take home with you - you can while away hours and hours here and have a really good time.

It is an awesome place to walk and shop. I enjoy the used bookstores the most. There are lots of interesting places to see like the farmer's market on Saturday. Parking is difficult so it is better to take some public transportation to get there or to walk up.

Quirky and quaint area of town. Go on a Saturday, park your car and walk. Visit the Farmer's Market, go for lunch, enjoy shopping in all the little shops. A nice day out.

I had the misfortune (?) of visiting Old Strathcona during the fringe festival. It was more than a little crazy. There were HORDES of people everywhere, with stupidly long lineups for any bar. The colorful scenery of the personalities were amusing though. The other times I have been to visit Old Strathcona I have always had a wonderful day shopping... More

Lots of restaurants and pubs. A very lively theatre and festival scene particularly in the summer. Many boutique and specialty stores. Very strongly oriented to families and younger adults.
