I hiked this trail with friends on September 3rd. It turned out to be an amazing time of year to try it. We have hiked to Garibaldi Lake before along the same trail in July and have found it completely covered in snow. There was no snow this time though, the hike up to Black Tusk was perfect, clear blue... More

Every avid hiker needs to hike this inactive volcanic core. Amazing view from the top.

Although the beginning is long/boring through the woods, then in the meadows the beauty reveals, and either at the top of the tusk or by the lakes...The magic is there

If you have the time and the stamina, this is the most spectacular hike in BC, as far as I know. Being a geologist, reaching the raw, fresh volcanic peak was a particularly exciting goal, but to stand atop this unique formation and gaze at the view is unmatched!

Hi everyone, This is a very beautiful trail and absolutely a must if you are intermediate and up + healthy individual. Me and my classmate had knee problem and therefore suffered a real pain when were on our way down. Otherwise, it is a really good trail, beautiful scenery, lot's of other hikers, there are also areas to camp, maps... More

An awe-inspiring, picturesque hike to an important local landmark. The volcanic plug is a spindle tower of black rock. Read up on it and be prepared for the distance and potential changes in weather and terrain.

It's a tough dayhike, taking about 3 hours to get to the summit at a good pace. The final bit to get to the actual summit is fairly daunting and you usually see quite a few people turn around at the bottom of the final climb. That's not too bad though as the views from this point are phenomenal as... More

I recommend this trip, it was a very prety trail and an excellent work out. I rode a mountain bike up the "microwave tower" road from Whistler (via hwy 99). The road is currently closed to motor traffic because a "bridge" is out. Because the road to microwave tower is so steep, I pushed my bike most of the way... More

I just hiked up Black Tusk from the microwave towers and thought it was fantastic. It took us around 2.5 hrs to get to the top, it was tough because you are so far above sea level, the air is quite thin. If you are not a tree hugger I would suggest that you talk to a local with a... More
