Nice to visit from a historic point of view. The gardens around it are very nice too. Somehow I expected it to be more glamourous, or see more. You get to see large rooms, mostly with furniture removed and only paintings and curtains left on the walls. But still it is interesting.

Anyone visiting the Capital should make a stop at the GGs. The tour offers insight into the history of the place and the life of the Governor General. There is an interesting art and furniture collection. The grounds are worth a stroll in the summer.

When you are visiting Canada, why miss this place. You'd love to know where and how the Premier of this great nation lives. The entry is free and as abonus you get to see totem poles in addition to the residence of the Premiere, but some of the areas are cordoned off for security reasons.

Then a short drive to Rideau Hall at 1 Sussex Drive- home of the Governor General, to you and me the Queen's representative in Canada. A staggeringly beautiful.building set within a huge wooded-park in a quiet, unassuming but nevertheless high end neighborhood. You do need to book this in advance as although it is free, there is a strict limit... More

Great place to take the family. The most recent and the current Governor Generals have both been very dedicated to making sure this public space is as welcoming as possible. I used to love the greenhouse but the last time I went it was under renovation. May be open now though. The artwork is beautiful too. Also a great destination... More

A worthwhile free attraction. The grounds are beautiful; you could spend a while wandering around. We had a very good guide for the house and learned a number of interesting facts.

The trees dedicated to important people are especially interesting to see; it's a great time and would be beautiful to see during summer.
