if you have a handicap, then i d be hesitant...but then again frere andre may miraculously help you shed your cane, your wheelchair, your whip just long enough for you to say a preyer and make a small donation. the church more than ever needs your money because those bond yields are so low..just kidding..go , it s good exercise... Amazing both inside and outside. Stunning panoramic views across the city form the Basilica The little chapel at the entrance where Frere Andre lived was enchanting and then the splendor of the oratory itself - almost breathtaking. Walking stick and crutches arranged in a couple of locations are a type of motif to the "miracles" performed by Frere Andre and... More

You have to appreciate religious venues to enjoy this. Also, it is many different levels with many, many steps and not easy to navigate if you have a handicapped person in your group. I enjoyed it. I recommend buying the guide book, then follow the arrows and numbers and read along. Also, plan to spend more than an hour. The... More

Situated just beside Mont Royal, this is a place which you can skip and you won't regret doing it. There isn't anything great here to write about, but if you have come this far in Montreal, why would you miss a chance seeing it?

We took a tour that included a stop at St. Joseph's, so we didn't have much time to visit, but our tour guide said that this was a place of healing, like Lourdes. We managed to walk up the many steps to take a quick look inside - it is incredible! Wish we had more time to visit.

This Italian Renaissance style basilica, is Canada's largest church and a "must see" when visiting Montreal. Built atop Mount Royal, it represents the highest point in Montreal. From the Oratory's terrace, we could observe a North West view of Montreal. This church is dedicated to St. Joseph, whom Brother Andre credited for all his reported miracles. On display in the... Although we have been to Montreal several times I did not know until this year that St Joseph's Oratory existed. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday so we decided before heading home to visit this place. It was very busy but very peaceful. There are many steps to reach the top but the view of the city is spectacular. The... More
