This performance was fabulous, but I would've liked it if they provided programs, so we would know what is coming up. The chairs are comfortable and it is nice to look up at the organ pipes as the performance is going on.

It is a bit confusing here on the TA Things to Do list for Montréal pertaining to the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, La Maison Symphonique, it's concerts and the whole Place des Arts complex that has a separate entry in the listing. So here let's focus on the Montréal Symphony Orchestra and it's newer house, the Maison Symphonique which is...

We went to an OSM performance last year and it was great. We are big music lovers, so we really enjoyed it, but I could tell that some people in the audience did not feel the same way (I guess their music preference was more hip-hop haha!).
Like other musical venues, it really depends on your preference. If you're considering...

This is now reckoned to be Canada's best orchestra, particularly with the world-renowned Kent Nagano conducting. He knows precisely how to handle the really grand symphonies (Mahler, Beethoven) with style, panache and humour - why, he even talks to the audience!
Visited recently for a concert; beautiful new hall with excellent sound quality; better than their old venue (Place des Arts). More intimate ambiance. A must see! OSM is one of the best orchestras in the world!
The OSM is well known all over the world either by his former Chef Dutoit or the actual Nagamo The new music hall is so GREAT it has to be seen and enjoyed for the GREAT sound
I heard Dvorak's New World Symphony by OSM, it was a very nice performance in a beautiful hall. One of the coolest organs I've seen. The orchestra was good, world class, but probably not the best I've heard.
Brilliantly designed, all-wooden new concert hall is VERY impressive. Most recently, we heard the Canadian Brass ensemble (now resident in NY - go figure...) and were duly impressed. You could hear even the smallest sound with crystal clarity. Great symphony, great hall!
One of the best symphony orchestras on this side of the pond. And a beautiful new concert hall. Nagano is a super-star but the orchestra sounds as good with some of the guest conductors too.
Finally made it to the new concert hall - it is fabulous, both in architecture and for the outstanding acoustics. Don't miss it!
