We stayed in Upper Town for 5 days, and never felt bored. There are a ton of shops to poke around in. Yes they are expensive, but so what? Lots of great food, lots of great places to people watch. I would definitely recommend walking around rather than driving - parking did not look fun.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We stayed at a charming hotel in the center of town. It's a visual feast and feels a bit like Europe. It' s easy to take the funicular to the lower town. We were there at the very beginning of tourist season so we avoided crowds. The disadvantage was that we missed some events that... More

While we loved the old buildings, most of the them are closed to the public or are homes. One can only walk on the narrow sidewalks past these houses. We met some local cats looking at us through the windows on one of the side streets. That made our day. Otherwise the shops are either expensive or tacky. The food... More

We just love the upper town of old Quebec City and in fact was our second visit and we stayed at the Loews Concordia hotel. The location is ideal in terms of great places to eat, go for drinks or sitting on the patio watching the world go by. It is great location for young and old at heart and... More

I found so many wonderful little shops and places to go. If you are walking, no problem. Driving? Many of the streets are one-way so its easy to get turned around and confused. Once you learn the town (in about a half day!), you'll have the hang of it.

Everything we saw in our very short visit (8 hours) was splendid. We walked all over the city. We went through narrow streets and stepped in lobbies of four room inns. We could have stayed days.

It's like a flew and landed somewhere in Europe. Upper town gives you some great views of the river and beyond. Lots of excellent places to eat and shop in. Great board walk although it does get windy so bring a jacket in the spring time! Loved that all the buildings are snug together and painted different colours. You can... More

The upper town in Quebec bears the French charm and for some time you would really forget that you are in Canada and not in any French town. The buildings are all French styled and many of them are Heritage structures. The Chateau Frontenac outshines them all. Its not only huge, it's imposing as well. The visit to the citadel... More

I enjoyed the Upper Town's beauty. I preferred the feel of Lower Town, but it was worth the ride up the funicular to Upper Town. The boardwalk gave great visibility to the lower section, and the horse & carriage rides are available in this section

Walking the streets of the Upper Town is like being in a town in France. You do not need a car because all the sites, hotels and restaurants within this walled city are so close to each other. The must see Chateau Frontenac, the Citadelle, Terrasse Dufferin, Basilica of Notre Dame, etc. are easily accessible to each other. It is... More
