If you are in Canmore for the day I would highly recommend taking on this hike. You start out with a heavily forested section with several switchbacks and beautiful scenery. As the trees become more sparse the view into the valley becomes increasingly vast and breathtaking. From this point on the ascent consists of somewhat steep rocky sections which might... More

Great hike for anyone who doesn't hike regularly, wants a lovely day trip, and wants to be able to walk the next day. ;)

Great entry-level mountain trek. Above the treeline the wind picks up and near the ridge those with latent height issues might feel a bit wobbly. Take it slow and don't race your air.

Excellent climb to the top and well worth it! Views are spectacular and rewarding. I would bring plenty of water and snacks to help through the hike. There were even a few young kids (~5 years old) on the hike when I was there - they were tired but loving it!

This is not to be underestimated, the hike is short but steep and very rewarding with an awesome view of the bow valley. It's too crowded in my opinion, try east end of rundle on the othe side of the road or go further in kananaskis country for nicer and quieter hikes.

very steep, but you get amazing views for such a short hike. If you're a fit hiker it'll prob take you about 90 mins up and less than an hour down if you have good knees! The less fit (myself) will need to take it slow and stop often to catch breath!

A nice hike more of less straight up with spectacular views at the top! Watch that drop off on the other side!

I must admit I'm a little out of shape so many people passed me on the way up. Once at the top it was worth the hike though as the views are amazing for effort you put in. For those of you with the same fitness level as me, just take your time, one foot in front of the other,... More

Wonderful hike just minutes from Canmore. It is challenging but most people of average fitness could do it. It's worth it for the view at the top. It gets very steep near the top with loose rocks. Take lots of water.

Glad we did this. But be warned if you're not in good shape - there isn't much flat trail on this hike and it can feel a little relentless. Give yourself some extra time - as in 4-5 hours for the return trip - to allow for rest breaks. Above the tree line the trail is tough to find and... More
