A highlight of my honeymoon to Canada! A wonderful place to take a wander and see some amazing sights! Truly beautiful from were view!
Have always wanted to drive to the top, but never had the time. This holiday we had the time and unfortunately the road was closed due to early snows at the halfway point. Will open again next spring sometime. Whole park closed as of today. Gorgeous views of Revelstoke and the surrounding valleys though.
Great views of the town and river, lot's of small hiking trails, there's also a small shuttle bus from the main car park to the summit, handy to get this and walk back down if you're not feeling that energetic. Trails are all signposted and cared for with interpretive signs. There is a fee to enter, however we were there... More
We visited on a lovely sunny day whilst staying in Revelstoke on our way to Vancouver. Really nice easy drive-up, was pretty busy but eventually managed to park up and walk the last part up through the meadows which were such a sight to see! Wished w'ed had the energy to do more pity that there never seems to be... More
The first shuttle bus leaves the carpark at the end of the hairpin-strewn road at 10 am. It is worth getting to the top early if you intend to do the small trails around the top of Mount Revelstoke before the crowds arrive. Give yourselves at least 45 minutes to drive up from Revelstoke
The alpine flowers were great and we enjoyed the trail showing how they were used by the first peoples. Worth walking to the top if you can manage it and doing all of the paths up at the top as it was pretty quiet when we were there, unlike some places in the Rockies where you can't move for tourists.... Only a couple of true viewing areas on the parkway - road side trees pretty much block the views. However, it's worth the drive up to the summit of Mount Revelstoke for the hiking trails and views of the Selkirk Mountains.
Visited Meadows in the Sky Parkway on a gorgeous, sunny day. Always drove by the turnoff my whole life and decided to finally see what it was all about. Paved, 26km road to the top. Lots of beautiful rest stops along the way with views overlooking Revelstoke and valley. Did not bring food but would've made an awesome picnic stop.... More
The road is almost a destination in itself for those who enjoy driving their car. Make sure you know how to gear it down during the descent. Though the signs ask that one leaves that park by 6:30pm, the gates will automatically open for you if you leave later in the evening.
