Went to Corfe castle in early May, the car park is quite a way from the castle so quite a long walk and a bit of a climb. Once there the castle spans quite a large area, so you should expect a lot of steep climbs but a lot of information boards on the way round.
During May they put...

By a happy co-incidence there was a jousting show going on with people in costume mock-fighting each other. Then while at the summit of the castle, we hear a whistle and see a steam train go by on the nearby line. A god visitor centre at the base, clearly market path up to the castle and informative plaques dotted about.
Visited with our two-year-old. We loved soaking up the history (and rare English sunshine on this trip), he loved running amongst the ruins. The village is also as beautiful and there is a steam train that runs between Corfe and Swanage.
Didn`t expected Corfe Castle to be such a lovely small town with nice old buildings, great pubs, a nice castle and a nice church-place to sit. Don`t miss it when you`re near.

There is an easily accessible car park at the base of the castle and a lovely little path that winds around the back of the hill and leads to the entrance. Once you get up to the actual castle, you can see where the guards would stand to...

The castle is magnificent, and easily viewed and photographed from the hillside, the village is a little twee, bit in keeping with the area there is a good selection of pubs too. All...

A real "castle" with ditches, and walls. And a fascinating story of resistance during warfare. When we visited there was a country fayre on, with plenty of local produce on sale. Check the National Trust website for What's On when you visit.
