I first went in almost 30 years ago for a festival of music. I had a visitor from Milan with me. I always like the Duomo there, but he declared Lincoln Cathedral to be even more special, and I agree with him. Been back a few times since, atmosphere is special

For anyone visiting Lincoln the Cathedral is a must. You can't really miss it, as it dominates the City, standing as it does on top of a high hill it can be seen for miles, both in the day and at night when it is lit up. Its a beautiful building, amazing craftsmanship on both the outside and the inside,... More

Go to a service, it makes the experience. Apart from the exterior which is stunning, the bit where they hold the service is the best bit of the interior and it's nice to go and take part rather than just wander round.

We spent the best part of a day in Lincoln Cathedral and mostly found it very interesting and inspiring. We chose to do the roof tour, largely on the basis of "getting up close" to the stained glass windows. Unfortunately the only stained glass windows you get close to are a very small selection that quite honestly you could miss... More

This cathedral is absolutely beautiful both from the inside and outside. The stained glass windows are exquisite. I love visiting the cathedral and love walking past it. The cathedral is also free to visit on a Sunday or at least I think it is.

Liked everything about this amazing building. Built on such a grand scale but also includes interesting side rooms and gravestones to read inside the church. There is a roof tour available which must give amazing views over Lincoln but from ground view you can take some spectacular photos of the massive towers. The cathedral was featured in the 'Da Vinci... More

Lincoln Cathedral is so magnificent, and yet unknown, that I am convinced that the local tourist board are trying to keep it a secret. You can see it from miles around, and up close it is breathtaking. Visit if you can, but shhh....don't tell anyone,

Last time I came to visit Lincoln you didn't have to pay, you could just wander and enjoy the beauty of it. It is now £6 each which we felt too much when we're not religious or particularly knowledgeable about architecture

Impressive and beautiful! Would thoroughly recommend (I do still prefer Durham's though - but I confess to bias having been a student there!)
