Thanks to reviews we opted for this tour. Its serious history! If you're not interested in oral history, this is not the tour for you. You start at Trinity college, hear a lecture, and then move to the early Parliament building, Dublin Castle, Christ's Church and back. We learned a great deal about Irelands past and it helped us understand... More

My wife and I found Gavan extremely personable ... but more importantly he gave us an historical underpinning of Dublin and Ireland - REAL History I believe. That base changed the way we experienced the rest of our explorations. Our trip would have been seriously lac king without his "kick start".

The historical walking tour delivered what it promised a history lesson whilst walking around Dublin. Our guide was engaging, informative, entertaining, humorous and passionate, I now feel like I can begin to understand Ireland. Even the weather was fine.

As a history buff, I found Gavin to be very knowledgable and interesting. I was especially pleased to be able to see the room in the former Parliament Building where the House of Lords met as well as City Hall. Whenever Gavin was asked a question it was like triggering a dropdown screen to select the level of detail you... More

This is a two hour (ish) historical walking tour of major sites within the centre of Dublin. The guides are all history graduates of Trinity College (so they know what they are on about!) Gavin was a fantastic guide, he imparted the complexities surrounding the history of the various sites very well. He made sure to find out about the... More

My friend and I just got back from Dublin and had to leave a review for Donal, our Historical Walking Tour guide. He was really knowledgeable, friendly and obviously loved his job and his city, which makes all the difference on a tour. It was supposed to last two hours, but he showed us around for two and a half... More

Gavin was very knowledgeable and fun - his jokes were sincere and funny, and the tour felt very personal, with him narrating his own connection with various parts of it, and his own perspective on the events. I recommend this tour warmly.

How else to describe a walking, interactive lecture on Dublin history from a Ph.D. in Irish history? Even if you are not a history buff, you will gain an appreciation for Ireland's difficult past, the resilience of the people, and amazing city that has been created as a result of this. Highly recommended.

Peter did an excellent job with this tour and is a highly competent and enthusiastic guide. The weather could have been a bit warmer, but the tour itself and everything we learned on it were fantastic and well worth the fee! The guide also managed the acoustics very well despite the fact that we were a relatively large group on... More
