Although we enjoyed the Guinness tour the first time we went, we found it a bit hokey and way too commercialized. Smithwick's is just the opposite. The tour guide was passionate about Smithwick's and new the ins and outs of the history of Smithwick's. He was friendly, articulate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. If you are familiar with breweries then you may... More

Ronan gives a spirited tour with lots of interesting information. The pint he pours at the end will be unlike any other you have ever had. You won't regret this tour, I promise!

We liked this tour better than the Guiness tour in Dublin. It is a shame that they are going to close it down. The guide had worked at the brewery for many years. We learned how you pull a pint of Smithwicks and then the best part - we got to drink it. Smithwicks is delicious. The St. Francis Abbey... More

On a very rainy day in Kilkenny the brewery tour was a great opportunity to shelter and gain some knowledge of brewing. Our tour guide, Ronan, having worked in the brewery for many years was an ideal host. We were shown the beer in the various stages of brewing. We also learned the history of the Smithwick family. The grand... More

We stopped in for our tour on the way from Dublin to Kinsale (and wished we had more time here in Kilkenny). We really enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide was a man who worked at the brewery for 46 years and was a taster. He shared with us his extensive knowledge of the family and brewery history from the... More

The tour started on time with a strict number of visitors and booking is essential. The guide Ronan was very good and very informative about the history of the site, the abbey and the Smithwick family. His knowledge of the brewing process is good. Ronan is enthusiastic about his job and making sure you understand and enjoy the tour. He... More

I just came back from Ireland on vacation for St. Patrick's Day and we mad a stop to Kilkenny to visit the Smithwick's Brewery. I have been on several brewery tours in the past including Guinness. This is by far one of the best I have been on. This tour is not like some of the others where you see... More

Moving the main brewing operation to Dublin later this year, glad we got to see it. Good tour of the history of the brewing facility and Abbey. Cool cellar bar for the included pint. Cost was €10 pp.

We found the tour was very well done, and unlike Guinness in Dublin you get to tour the actual facilities and see the genuine brewing process step by step. A quick tour of the ruins of St. Francis Abbey are a bonus as well. Our guide did a great job and kept things moving along without feeling rushed and answered... More

The tour guide we had was so good. He Had worked at Smithwicks for 30 years so he understood all the processes and all the history about this establishment. It was great to see someone so sincere about his company and such a postitive attitude. Explaining pouring of Smithwick's in a glass and his presentation will always be something I... More
