Worth spending a full day visiting the area! Many special surprises along the tiny streets. Good cafes highly recommended to go visit woth friends!
By the time you see all the sights concentrated on this island in the middle of the Seine, a full day may not be enough. Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle, archaeological site, and the flower market are a few of the things to see. Save enough time just to stroll around and take it all in.
Paris , as you know , is a mega busy city. It has it's gardens etc. but if you want a quiet spot to just wander around the streets without the fear of being run over - and take in the sights ... This is ideal .
We rented an apartment on the Ile de la Cite and it was an amazing experience. The apartment was on the fifth floor and had a beautiful view of the Palais du Justice and a park in Place Dauphine. We could hear Notre Dame's bells chime. It was so quiet at night. We could unwind and relax after a long... More
One of the most charming finds in Paris - we really did stumble upon this during our first stay on a very rainy day while we were still getting acclimated to the city. LOVE this place and had an amazing lunch at a restaurant whose name escapes me but I'll post when I can find it because we've been back... More
I loved this island long before I visited it, in all the books I learned to read. Quieter and calmer in the winter times, is a complete nightmare in the warm days packed with all the mad tourists.
This is where it started. The old City on the island in front of Notre Dame. Great little winding streets with small local restaurants where you don't pay the high prices of the Champs and you can hardly get a bad meal.
Modern, classic, lots of culture, great shops and restaurants. A must see area of paris for sure! It has the vibe of NYC village even though this is older! Metro accessible and friendly people!

On the eastern end of the Island is the Henri IV statute and the Navettes du Pont Neuf (which are much better for a river cruise than the enormous bateaux mouches) leave from the eastern... More
We stayed on the Island for 7 days. We booked our accommodation through HomeAway.co.uk and were 50m away from the centre of Paris. The Island was a perfect place to experience the city - night time entertainment on the streets and late night shops. Take the time to walk the back streets - small cake shops to entice you and...
