This is the busiest spot in Berlin. Very impressive and regal. Though packed with people, there is plenty of space to accommodate the masses and street performers nearby are engaging and hilarious. One breakdance group in particular was the best I've seen because of their meticulously planned choreography and hilarious segments.

This gate is a symbol of German history and is a must see. Its simply beautiful. Also very close to this gate are many other tourist attraction like the Reichstag (Parliament). So one can cover lot of attractions in one go. Near the gate are lot of small open air food joints which serve good non veg food and a... More

After all these years, it continues to be a gathering place for many people some thinking about the Nazi armies parading in the area and others in awe of the architecture.

The best way to see it is to walk up Unter den Linden from the west in the centre of the road. The Brandeburger Tor is the nearest station (massive roadworks to the west). The Gate itself is impressive and well worth seeing - it is the symbol of the united Berlin. Always crowded, but the square in front so... More

What else to say? Gets very busy and we went again very early as we had 8.15 am tickets for the Reichstag dome nearby. Would recommend an early morning visit as there is no one there then

By European standards of Paris, Rome and London this is MUCH smaller then I pictured. It was surrounded by vendors hawking their goods. The Teagarten across the street was gorgeous and worth the time to stroll.

The gate is a must see in Berlin but hard to avoid seeing, sitting as it does at the geographic and emotional heart of the city. I visted West Berlin a number of times as a student decades ago and looked over the wall at the gate but couldn't walk under it and stroll Unter Den Linden. Now it's again... More

Not just a posh bit of architecture, the large open spaces around the gate attract street theater, weddings and LOTS of people. We spent around three hours in this area just watching the entertainment pass by. There are the usual tourist traps like Starbucks (if you can/want to go in) but I'd recommend the Haagen-Das shop offering wonderful looking creations.... More

Probably the 1st landmark we saw (apart from the TV tower). On one side you have Unter Den Linden and on the other Tiergarten... great!!

Like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Colosseum in Rome or the Houses of Parliament in London you pretty much have to visit the Brandenburg Gate when in Berlin. If you don't get the obligatory picture posing in front of it you are either too embarrassed to admit you are a tourist (like my girlfriend was!), or you have no... More
