Probably the best (and certainly the biggest) spot of green in central Madrid. Plenty of walking paths, trees, flowers, a pond, and lots of people enjoying all the above (yet the park is big enough that it doesn't feel crowded). Good peoplewatching, too (including the cat-and-mouse game played between illegal street vendors and the police who make futile efforts to... More

This park has something for everyone. It's huge and has so many different areas. I recommend spending a day exploring, but you still won't see everything! Very safe and lots of friendly locals. I was also really impressed with how clean and well maintained it was. Lots of quick services restaurants to eat and have a beer.

While visiting a city, I always look for the parks. El Retiro is the kind I realy love. Trees, funtains, shadowed grass and banches and even a small artifical lake where you can row for a while. It is super clean despite many visitors with kids. I have enjoyed walking up and down the park for a good hour and... More

This may not be the most beautiful park you've ever visited, but it's very pleasant and vast, a great place for a stroll on a nice day with your significant other. Plenty of stuff for kids as well. I'm always grateful when municipalities set aside vast areas for public enjoyment of this type, and the people of Madrid have a... More

A great park for a leisurely stroll or cycling, or to just lay on a blanket and watch the action. Right in the heart of the city and easy to find.

This park is very nice and very beautiful. This was really crowded but the atmosphere was really nice. There were a lot of musicians playing on the streets.

Very nice and kind park with a lot of treas and places where you can sit or lay down in the shade, if you like. Also near metro and bus stops (also the Hop on Hop off bus). Go and enjoy!
