This is a fantastic museum of mostly Roman art. There are ancient Roman sculptures and mosaics. They also have painting galley with two by Caravaggio. There is a pleasant rooftop cafe with great views of Rome. They let you photograph some things, which is fun.

There seemed to be some re-organisation going on when we went, with lots of moving boxes in some of the rooms. Not all signs had English versions so we felt a bit lost. The she-wolf and the tiger mosaics are great - but my favourite thing was the view over the Forum from the balcony you can access from the... More

We went to this museum on a Sunday just before lunch, the line to get in was pretty massive but luckily we used this on our Roma pass and were able to walk straight in though the bookshop. You cannot bring pack backs into the museum but you have free lockers available to put these in ( saves you from... More

On Natale di Roma we went to the Capitoline Museum. Our guide wrote that the entry would be free on this day. When we arrived our guide seemed out-dated but there was still a discount. The entree was 3.50 euro, which I think is very cheap. The museum is very diverse and less busy than for example the Vatican Museum.... More

I was expecting it to be bigger and to some extent better. On the principle of doing what interests you most first, I started with the paintings in the pinotecca. Apart from an excellent Carravagio (the fortune teller) I was pretty disappointed with the art there, so whereas I thought I wouldn’t have much time for the rest of the... More

The Capitoline Museum has a very impressive collection that isn't so overwhelming that you can't see it all in one visit. We spent 2 hours at this museum and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the highlights of the collection are Bernini's Bust of Medusa and The Capitoline Wolf, along with many busts and statues of Emperors, etc. We visited late... More

We had done the Vatican before so we chose this museum to see this time. Right at the Forum so essentially that is where your visit will start. The museum itself was not at all crowded so you could actually linger to see the things that interest you. It was quiet. It's a great museum I would definitely do again... More

the Capitoline Museums have some remarkable ancient statues, stone work (the funeral stones are very informative), artifacts and bronzes. Some interesting insight into the formation of Rome and the views from the museum is special.

Sculptures and Paintings in this museum is exquisite. If you buy the roma pass, you are entitled to see two museums free with this pass. so apart from colosseum, this museum is a must see and is next to Pallazzo Venezia.
