The tile work on the upper floor was beautiful, the mosaics were amazing, looked new yet were very old. The tour of the lower levels were well worth the fee and were very informative

It is outstanding to see the centuries alive in this Church. As you go below the ground level you live history. Besides the outstanding floor and mosaics in the basilica, there are two other levels to discover. Tourists flock to the nearby Colosseum without being aware of this gem!

We stumbled on this largely by accident, and it was the only site we wound up visiting twice. Fascinating and highly recommended! The church is free to visit, and there is a modest fee for excavations below, but they are well worth it.

We wanted to see some of the more outlying churches in Rome, other than St. Peter's, Gesu, etc., and this church fit the bill perfectly. Huge, great chapels, and an amazing colection of ceramic art. Well worth the hike up the hill t see it.

An amazing find! Stunning mosaics and absolutely brilliant archaeology. Not particularly easy to find but well worth searching it out.

I am from Rome, and every time I bring some friends in San Clemente it's always a fantastic experience. Beside the beautiful basilica, what is amazing is the the underground part of the basilica, going down to 14 meters below the level of the street, with Roman constructions of the 1st-2nd century AD. In the underground basilica, there is also... More
