This is a must see chapel for art lovers especially . The colours , especially the blues are wonderful . Giotto was a true master , beautifully restored it is a wonder to visit.
Last month I had the opporunity of visiting this wonderful chapel in Padova: it's absolutely amazing and the 15 minutes of the visit pass too fast....I could not stop watching the magnificent frescos and all the details Giotto put in all the scenes represented. Remember to reserve the visit before arriving in Padova because only groups of 25 can go... More
A must. I strongly recommend to book for a double (half an hour) visit. Giotto's frescoes are unrivaled. Pay attention to the comet in the panel of Adoration of the Magi: it's Halley comet as seen by Giotto himself few years before the realization of the frescoes.
Beautiful! Absolute must see. The church is very well maintained and kept as it was many years ago. So interesting!
First, we watched a video that explained a bit about the chapel. We then filed into a beautifully lit chapel. Because it was on a smaller scale than the Sistine Chapel, it felt much more intimate and approachable. The quality and colors of the frescoes are very affecting. I could have stayed much longer, but you are limited to the... More
Scrovegni Chapel (Cappella degli Scrovegni) is a must see attraction in Padua. It houses the frescos by Giotti in what was once a private chapel for a rich merchant who wanted to appease the Church and God for his ( and his father’s) usurer activities. The Chapel is small but incredibly adorned with images from both the Old and New... More
Reading about your visit to this chapel is a must before visiting, as the artwork is complex but beautiful. Tickets must be purchased in advance, advisably before you leave home. Because of the size of the chapel visits are limited to 15 minutes, preceeded by a mandatory 15-minute acclimitization during which you are shown a video and your body sheds... More
They only allow twenty minutes in the chapel, which is not nearly enough time....but they do allow you to buy two tickets and to stay for 40 minutes....perfect! Arrive early and you can see a video downstairs from the ticket office, which is very interesting and not the same video they show as you await your turn to enter the... More
I would think that the majority of people who visit Padua as a tourist do so to visit the Scrovegni Chapel - and so they should! Entrance must be booked in advanced and if you're spending and time in Padua the best option is to buy a Padua Card. The Chapel frescos are of course regarded as the finest work... More
I have visited the chapel twice, with many years in between. The differences demonstrate the difficulties in preserving our cultural heritage, both because of time and the number of persons who wish to visit these sites. the first trip, we bought a ticket, stood in a small line and then walked through the chapel at our own speed on an...
