But the square has long been a lure for massive numbers of pigeons, drawn by the massive numbers of tourists who readily feed them. While the tourists happily post for photos amid the flock, there are concerns that the birds' presence--and what they leave behind--will damage the centuries old architecture and art work. « less

We arranged this tour through Hotel Antiche Figure. The female guide was Excellent. I can't recall her name, but I will add her photo and perhaps the hotel staff can help.

One of those places which you always hoped to visit. Not quite as stunning as expected. Nonetheless I am glad I have finally visited and would recommend to visit on a sunny day.

Had great expectations of this remarkable square but after 2 visits I'm less than impressed. As we entered the square from the Rialto bridge direction the first thing I saw was a large workman's shelter high up on the side of the Basilica. On turning the corner there was massive scaffolding covering a large part of the façade. I know... More

Visited this place three times (there's not much else to see or do in Venice); during the day, during heavy rain and late at night. It was very busy. I mean really busy, like a football match or a concert, you couldn't see anything, there were too many people. But then that's how I would describe the whole of Venice.... More

no words to really describe this amazing square...the stones , the way it was built... again the history...can just imagine what would have been going on all those hundreds of years ago...we saw many people including groups of school children on school excursions...

The buildings, the simple lines the stone work, statues and the lack of pigeons. As usual the square flooded, and you will need to cross it if you arrived by waterbus, so Wellington boots are essential.
