You can take bus or cab there - and then walk down. A view you don't want to miss. Stop at the gardens on your way down.

The best views of Florence and the River Arno. Definitely go before sunset, take a bottle of wine, sit on the steps and relax as the sun sets. Fabulous photos from this location!

Terrific views across central Florence from a wide, open area. There is a rose garden part way up that also affords views but the extra climb to the Piazzale does not take long and is rewarding.

Definitely a bit of a hike to get up here. You must cross the river and then make your way up a bit of a winding path to reach the piazza. Probably about a 10-15 minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio. Really cool local restaurants and shops on the way though, so not a bad walk. The walk is completely... More

Not suitable for older or unfit people ( those should take a cab or drive up there ) but well worth climbing up if you can as the view will be a reward by itself. sit on the stairs like everybody and admire. Just beaufiful.

As this place has to have a car and coach park, and some refreshment facilities, I do not see what else could be done - other, perhaps, than getting road of some of the souvenir stalls. Anyway it does not detract from the view, which it is vital to inspect - preferably, of course, on a sunny day.

On a beautiful sunny day my wife and I walked from near the rail station around quite a few back streets to avoid the the crowds and finally crossed the Arno river to for a nice stroll up the hill to this great viewing area. Once again full of tourists and stalls selling souvenirs. But thank heaven for the stall... More

Worth the climb for the breath taking views and opportunity to take photos across Florence. If you're struggling with the steps stop half way and sit in the garden on the left to enjoy the sights from there before going for the climb.
