It is nice relatively big piazza in front of Santa Croce church. It is good place to hang around, eat and shop. There are sometimes evening performances organized, we were lucky to be there during Bianco Notte festival.

Piazza Santa Croce and its' church gives you a 'Wow' factor upon first impression. The Piazza is surrounded by Cafes', restaurants, Bars and a variety of stalls and shops.
It is visited throughout the entire day by tourist groups, students and individuals...keeping it alive until early hours of the morning!
Probably not the place for peace and quiet! :)

Great view of the Church. Statue of Dante. Better at nightime. Classic Handball tournament in June. Must visit Santa Croce Church.
desserving a visit is piazza santa croce and its Church, much nicer Inside than the Duomo! much less people here.
Great place to sit and watch people and life on a sunny day. Stone benches favour a relaxing time, though seats at a cafe would be more comfortable. Surrounded by old properties some decorated with faded pictures the atmosphere is quite tranquil for a city and without grass to soften it.
We enjoyed this Piazza two nights in a row for dinner with our kids ages 3 and 6. We were able to have a nice meal outside while watching our kids play in the Piazza and enjoy the freedom of not sitting still. It was not too crowded, there were a few street performers, but not at all pushy or...

Florence is magnificent: old and beautiful and calm. We wandered from the Piazza Santa Croce to the Palazzo Vecchio, eyes wide open, soaking it all in. Florence is ancient, but much of the old city is not as blatantly militaristic as Rome can be. Many more basillicas and palaces than forts or walls. And not geared toward tourists like Venice,...

Another huge Piazza...which unfortunately is rather crowded, touristy and dirty. The view of Santa Croce Basilica is spectacular though. If you are in the area, make sure you go inside that church.
The tombs of the greats are here....Gallileo, Michelangelo, Rossini, Machiavelli. The Pazzi Chapel enclosed is one of the finest examples of Reanaissance architecture (by Brunelleschi)
In our trip in Firenze, we stopped here very often. We could sit here enjoying the sun, without the huge croud you find on the piazza del duomo and piazza della signoria. Locals are playing some music, everyone was just relaxing, this seemed like a spot where the locals were hanging out too.
