We enjoyed a great display of medieval flag waving and food tasting, lovely place to visit in the evening to watch the sunsets
San Gimignano, what a stunning pace, OK there will probably be too many tourists whatever time you go but what atmosphere, what wonderful views, what amazing architecture. Ensure you have your camera batteries fully charged because you will need them. If you want a snack there is a Pizza house in the main street which sells slices, admittedly for around... More
The Rocca is a beautiful place to just sit and unwind and listen to the occasional musician play. I love going there very early in the morning or late in the evening when it is more quite and a totally different place. Unfortunately many people just walk up the steps to the viewpoint take a photo and come back down,... More
We visited this location twice during our trip to San Gimignano. Once in the late afternoon and once in the morning around 8:00am. The light was completely different at both times and it's recommended getting up early to see the place with no one around. Everyone is goes to the overlook point next to the wine museum, but be sure... More
Lovely little outdoor area with fantastic views , only a little walk from the Main Street but well worth a visit. If you are lucky someone may be playing a harp while you walk around, and a great little wine shop with the history of the local grapes.

However, even an older group of people were able to climb with zero issues. Additionally, the city was putting on a medieval festival on 15 Jun which made for an awesome... More
Not much left of the fortress but the views are worth the climb and there are a few benches for a shady seat among the olive trees.
This was probably our highlight on visiting the town on a wet and windy Thursday. Our visit wasn't helped by the weather, but having the beautiful medieval town totally over run with 'white van men' and market stalls obliterating the view of the piazzas and buildings, plus bus loads of tourists and school parties, I would fully recommend an early... I only had a limited time in San G. and took the advice of the contributor of 22 April and visited the rocca rather than climb one of the city towers. Big mistake. The climbable part of the castle was at the rear of the building and the view over the town was restricted by trees and walls and thus... More
This place is located in the upper part of San Gimignano it has a small observatory tower, the vie of Tuscany is amazing. The view of the towers of San Gimignano is beautiful.
