The Munster St. Vincent was designed by Strausbourg architect, Matthaus Ensinger. Construction was begun in 1421 and completed in1893. The interior is Magnificent. Take the time to walk the grounds behind the Cathedral and enjoy more of the architecture and the most magnificent views of the river.

Gorgeous cathedral under renovation. Free to visitors. Incredible stain glass and the ceiling was especially unusual with handpainted black trompe d'oeil (sp?) designs. Amazing pipe organ that I wish we could have heard!

We had the most amazing experience as our son was invited following his confirmation to see the bell tower in the Munster Kirche. Now we're per say church tourists but this is something that reawakened my interest. The church is the tallest in Switzerland 100meters and has so much history in fascinating points to speak of...I won't spoil it for... More

Lovely church and helpful people. However, the book I bought was 9 Swiss Francs more than the same book at the museum, so I was not happy about that.

The cathedral has a classic Gothic architecture and feel. But somehow, the current renovation/restoration/scaffolding ruins a good photo.

A pity we cannot go inside, as the place was booked for a wedding when we were there. Nobody warn us of that, be warned now!

This church can be seen from every part of the old city. At June 2012 some parts and the tower was covered scaffolding and could not be seen. The exterior of the building has many sculptures and details you can admire. Interior of the building made myself feel that I was inside a dragon. Windows and the main ceiling was... More

Climbing to the top does take some effort, but the views are well worth it. Do it on a clear day and you won't be disappointed.

A large and distinctive building, but dark and not as attractive as many other European cathedrals.
