good experience all around. st gallen is a big town, but it cares for its old heart - and this greatest and best documented of all Cistercian convents is a wonderful excursion for a day.

This cathedral is a stunning example of Baroque architecture. The interior is remarkably harmonious with beautiful paintings and sculpture. The square outside is a great place to have a picnic lunch when the weather is nice.
