This is a great museum of carefully curated items. There are separate rooms with a dozen or so art pieces from each era (Ancient Egyptian through Impressionism). My husband and I went on Sunday (free admission) and because the museum is so spacious and well planned, it felt like we were on our own private tour!

One of the best collection of archeology and art Ive seen in Europe. All was top quality and perfecty displayed. The museum is in a very nice building with a wonderful garden.
If you visit Lisbon this museum should be at the top of your list of things to do. It is simply wonderful and full of beautiful objects from Greek up to more modern times. Hard to believe one man could obtain so many gorgeous objects in his lifetime. It is nice to visit a museum where one isn't overwhelmed with...

We visited the Gulbenkian on a Sunday when entrance is free, however the place was still not over-crowded. The collections of Middle Eastern porcelains, rugs and fabrics alone would justify a visit, but then there is also an amazing array of Chinese and European art. We only had a couple of hours before our flight home but would have loved...

Fascinating to see and enjoy a huge private collection of objects of extraordinary quality: rugs, porcelain, antiquities, gold objects and an amazing collection of Lalique's work, especially jewelry, which is rarely to be seen in such profusion. This is a museum collected over a fairly short time so there is no 'padding' as often happens with museums that just seem to...

Beautiful Art museum. I liked paintings by Edward Burne-Jones, There is also a nice restaurant inside the museum with good coffee.
Great compact collection of art from all cultures and throughout history in a very mellow space. Not many other visitors about when I went on a Friday afternoon, so I had the privilege of looking at pieces by renowned artists like Rembrandt and Lalique totally on my own without the distraction of having to make way for other people. It's...

This museum is a true treasure trove of the most wonderful precious pieces collected by Calouste Gulbenkian. From the outside the building is very 1960's, but inside the ambience and presentation is superb, though only in Portuguese and English, some more detail about some of the pieces would be welcome.
The pieces to view come from all over the world...

The Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon gives a good view of the broad interest in art by the Armenian millionaire. I visited it for the second time within less than two years, and found new and interesting aspects compared to the first visit. Don´t miss it!
The museum of modern art next to it, run by the Gulbenkian foundation, has to...
