So far we've been to see Inspector Norse (with a group of friends), I was a Rat (with 6 teenagers!) and The Misanthrope (with 17 year old son).We have had a fantastic experience every time we've been there. The quality of the performances have been superb; the view of the stage is really good. (We also went to The Theatre... More

We go to the rock and roll panto at the New Wolsey every year--in fact, we buy our tickets as soon as they go on sale to ensure that we get them (I bought this year's December tickets in March). The actors are incredibly talented, and the rock and roll music makes the show! We also went to "Yes, Prime... More

Cheerful smiley staff. Wonderful , intimate theatre, comfortable seats that allowed a great view of the stage combined with a superb stage performance of one of my favourite situation comedies made the evening one that I( intend to repeat. Recommended for many reasons.

The Wolsey is unusual in dispensing with the conventional stage and Proscenium Arch, replacing this with a stage that juts into the audience. We were disconcerted to enter the auditorium and almost walk directly onto the stage. This has the advantage of making you close to the stage and it feels very involving, the downside is that on occasions the... More

Excellent production. Q&A with the cast followed the performance on the night we attended. All seats in this theatre have a good view of the stage. Tickets reasonably priced and discounts for over 60s. Bar and cafe areas very welcoming and staff very helpful. Parking available very close to theatre.

I went to watch Macbeth with my school and many other schools, this was about 3 years ago but I remember it clearly it was very good, the people in the theater were kind patient, the seats were comfy and the stage was big enough so you could see I sat upstairs and I could still see everything very clear,... Took my children to see "my brother the Robot" and they were silent while they watched,Fantastic for the childrens imagination.A simple set with only 3 characters but a performance of that of a full pantomine. The theartre was clean and the staff were friendly and the price was right, much better than any indoor expensive play centre.

Booked 2 adults and 2 children to see 'We're going on a bear hunt' for the 2013 Easter school holidays. One reason I really like this venue is that it doesn't matter how little you are or where you sit, the stage is clearly visible. Unfortunately, my 3-year old little boy contracted chicken pox that same week so couldn't join... More

As a small theatre in a town which is located in the countryside this is an excellent venue. I love going to the Wolsey. Parking is easy, getting served at the bar is easy and the theatre is a good size for intimacy but also giving you that feeling that you are somewhere people want to be. Added to all... More
