Allow a day at least for this , also make sure you go for the end of day ceremony at 4:55pm, so many things to see , make sure you take the time and explore every corner.

The AWM has to be the best War Memorial of any kind around the world. The fact that there is so much detail, and attantion to detail makes the AWM so interesting. As a younger person I visited the War Memorial like most school aged kids do, I remember back then how large it was, but I still think many... More

Having been here a few times over the years, this time I came with my three boys (8, 10 and 14). I had only really budgeted an hour for a quick run through before we headed back to Sydney, and even in that short time, it made an impression. The VC gallery was fascinating, the aircraft gallery was a hit... More

The Autralian War Memorial looks onto Anzac Parade and Parliament House in Canberra. Its a beautiful location and inspiring place to visit. The honor roll with the etched names of the brave men who fought for their country are lined with small, vibrant red poppies - with the light of the day dancing across their plaques in between the gorgeous... Second trip here and this time the WWI room was closed for upgrades. Still an amazing museum with so much information, so many ways of learning and viewing. We took our new son-in-law who knew nothing about Australian Military History. He was fascinated and we enjoyed watching him being impressed. Our daughter found a lot of the displays depressing but... More

Every time I get to Canberra and have an hour or so spare I make my way up to the War Memorial and every time I go there’s always something new to see! If its your first visit, keep a few hours aside to be able to see everything. The War Memorial is one of Australia’s most precious monuments to... More

As an American combat veteran of the Vietnam War who served with the 4th Infantry Division in the Central Highlands of Vietnam (1968), it was my great honor to place a wreath of remembrance at the Australian Vietnam Conflict Memorial on ANZAC Parade on 6/5/2013. With little fanfare, but with a lot of heart and spirit, this tribute and salute... More

Could have spent days there. Something all Aussies should visit, and be proud of. Free entry is great, but felt so proud of it I put $20 in the donation box.
