Crocodile Explorer is a comfortable, air-conditioned vessel taking small numbers of visitors along Trinity Inlet on this scenic nature cruise. With waterways winding through a 300 square kilometre maze of mangroves, expect rich diverse wildlife, stunning scenery and a relaxing cruise with informative commentary from our crew. This is the saltwater crocodile’s natural habitat – with a chance to spot them basking on the muddy banks particularly in the cooler months. Cairns Harbour Cruises depart daily at 11.00am and 1.30pm for a 2 hour cruise. « less

A beautiful day to cruise up the inlet on a clean well-presented boat with a very informative commentary about the history as well as current day activities. Morning tea was excellent! We were surprised and pleased to see our old Manly ferry the "North Head" a bit worse for wear but still recognisable. This huge area of mangroves is well... More

Friday night on board boat only 10 people and a lovely glass of sparkling wine and cheese and crackers. Sat out front and watched all the weary people coming back from the reef as we headed off up the inlet. Got a nice commentary from the skipper about the boats in harbour and got to see the thousands of fruit... More

Did the Cairns Sunset River Cruise, including dinner. This was a nice way to spend the night, with an enjoyable ride on the boat, seeing some good sights in the harbour. Dinner afterwards is at Dundee's. The food was very nice, the only downside is that its typical restaurant food, where the portions were very small. All in all a... More

OK, not the best choice if you're in a group of young lads as I happened to be, but nonetheless a pleasant enough experience. Weather was dreadful so saw no wildlife/crocs whatsoever, but the guide was exceptionally well informed and regailed plenty of delightful facts. Enjoyed a chocolate ice cream and a coffee on board. Would have been great to... More

We went on the sunset cruise on Trinity Inlet and as new residents in Cairns we found it very enlightening. The welcome drink and nibbles were good and the scenery was interesting. Love the views of the mountains. It was not overbooked being at the end of the wet season and so we had room to move on the top... More

Not massively expensive and a nice way to spend a spare couple of hours. Crew were nice and ship in good shape. Complementary teas and coffees on board which was welcome as it was raining. Due to the weather we didn't see any wildlife to speak of but nothing they could do about that. Crew had good local knowledge and... More

More of an inlet rather than a habour cruise. If you like being out on the water it won't disappoint but Cairns isn't known for it's harbour. Inlets, mangroves and mud flats abound. But if you have a good vessel, pleasant company and enjoy being on the water you won't be wasting your time.

Taking the harbour cruise gives the traveller a quick realisation of how closely inter laced are the built environment of the Cairns area with the natural environment of the tropics. Take the sun cream, water and the camera.

Locals and visitors to Cairns should not miss the opportunity to do this excellent Cairns Harbour Cruise. Most interesting to hear about the different types of Mangroves and to enjoy the views of Cairns from the water. The crew are very helpful and give a great commentary. You will see Crocodiles at certain times of the year. Tea, coffee, cakes... More
