We drove from Cairns up a long road for about 90 minutes when entering the table lands. The road is long and windy although with some great views. It was very picturesque but you would naive to think about the worth of the journey with young children. On arrival in Atherton around lunch time we managed to find a fairly... More

Thoroughly enjoyed a self drive tour of the Tablelands. Began our journey from Port Douglas via Mt Molloy and finished at Milla Milla and travelling down the road to Innisvale. Beautiful and diverse, ranging from beautiful waterfalls and crater lakes to hugely diverse farmland growing from tea and coffee to corn and sugarcane and beef and dairy cattle. Had lunch... More

The Atherton Tablelands are a hidden secret to most people. The place has a sense of prehistoric beginnings with natural craters, beautiful waterfalls nestled in a cool rainforest setting. Lack Eacham is a crater swimming hole that is cool and picturesque, Lake Barrine Tea house is a must to see and don't forget to order the freshly baked scones with... More

We spent a couple of nights at Lake Eacham - one of the crater lakes - accommodation was modest but acceptable in a cabin at the local camping ground. This lake is gorgeous in sunshine or mists. Also see Lake Barrine, waterfalls and the Mt Hipypamee crater. The weather overall is cooler than Cairns and in April a relief from... More

We like driving through the beautiful scenery of the Tablelands. It reminds me of beautiful Switzerland, with green fields and cows on it. Lakes, waterfalls, Restaurants........make sure you have enough time to spend up there. its worth it to visit.

We did this trip a few years ago by renting a car and just driving throughout, stopping to stay in Yungaburra for the night. The views were excellent the whole time. We loved stopping at the sights like the lakes and giant fig tree, and Mungalli Creek Dairy is a must - love their cheese and fruit sampler platter. We... More

While vacationing in/near Cairns, we took a road trip through the Atherton Tablelands stopping and enjoying three waterfalls, the Catheral Fig Tree, The Crater, Lake Barrine and a beautiful Outlook point. It had many, many more areas to explore, but time was not on our side and we had to head back to Cairns. I highly recommend the trip, stop... More

Right across the tablelands once rising off the coast, the traveller will enjoy both the cooler temperature as well as the multi attractions able to be accessed within a day. For travellers with more than one day - an overnight stay at one of the Tablelands accommodation venues will offer the reward of more time to enjoy the Tablelands as... More
