The house's interior is of interest as an example of a 1930s renovation rather than as an historic house of Australia's mid Colonial period. I went on a quiet day and was generously and graciously given a tour out of schedule by an extremely well informed and engaging guide. Normally, tours are conducted at 90 minute intervals, something I did... More

This estate is huge and a perfect spot for a picnic in front of the old English Mansion. It is surrounded by lush garden filled with giant trees, ferns, lots of shades, pond & lake & a mini waterfall. It is sooo well maintained & gives you a wee taste of the old world charm, very family & child friendly... More

This a a great place to visit while in Melbourne. Easy access on public transport ( train to Ripponlea station ). Informative guide around the mansion and the grounds a delight to explore.

We went there a few years ago. The staff gave us a very detailed history about the original owner of the house and how the house was built and used. The garden is really beautiful and interesting. National Trust is doing a wonderful job to keep these histories of Melbourne alive.

One of the jewels in the crown of the National Trust. The tour of the mansion is an interesting look at the way of life in a past era.

I loved the history of the place, but felt it lacked in the way the tour we wee had pre-booked was messed up. My experience should have been more enjoyable. Hope things have changed for the better.

The gardens surrounding the mansion were very enjoyable and mansion itself was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed the day exploring the gardens and went on a tour to view the mansion itself.
