Nice getaway and just a short drive from Melbourne. Lots to do and see in the area. Great Cafe's and wineries if you go further into Yarra Valley.

I took a tour with a young couple along with the tour operators to Yarra Valley that was amazing. First we saw The Ricketts Sanctuary where this man had lived almost 100 years and carved some of the most beautiful carvings into the rock. We also had several wine tastings The views were amazing!
On a trip to Melbourne earlier in the year, I really wanted to bring my husband and son to the William Ricketts Sanctuary as I remembered going there as a kid and loving it. So we took a drive and headed there for the afternoon.
It was a scenic drive up the range and William Rickets Sanctuary did not disappoint....

A great place to spend a couple of days looking around visiting the national park. Great little cafes to stop and have a coffee. Friendly people only to happy to point you in the right direction to different places.
Totally enjoy the walk in the parks under the chilling weather. A must for nature lovers. During spring time it's good to bring along a picnic mat and have a lazy slumber under the cosy sun
American visitors enjoyed the Puffing Billy trip from Belgrave to Lakeside on a lovely sunny April Saturday. Then we drove over to Mt Dandenong to enjoy the wonderful views back across to the City and bay.. A relaxed easy day
The Dandenongs are a beautiful little slice of village life, filled with European style gardens and gorgeous places to stop and take tea or admire the view. While the drive on its own is just lovely, some great townships to stop in are Olinda and Sassafras (try the Miss Marple tea rooms if you like some atmosphere and quirkiness). The...

We took a drive up to sky high in the Dandenong's. It was a lovely clear day and could see the city and took in the sights from the viewing platform. Stopped and had a drink at the outdoor deck, then went for a walk around the gardens. The drive up the hill was lovely, green and lush rainforest and...

Just visited the Dandedongs went from St Kilda by tram, train to Belgrave then bus to Sassafrass so easy had a lovely walk around nice little shops and lovely tea houses would certainly recommend this place. Probably the weekends are very busy but we went on a Monday so easy to walk around.
Only an overnight stay and we would have liked more time to explore the gardens and William Ricketts Sanctuary. It was unfortunately raining on arrival and views were limited. The Mt Dandenong Tourist Road provides a very scenic, picturesque and winding experience. Holly Lodge would be a brilliant place to stay with a group of people for a wedding or...
