Not far to drive and a pretty spot, even for the one time we encountered rain. Pretty to photograph. We didn't do the walk. But was still worth the drive.

we only found this place because we booked a horse trek out here at the farm/station behind the lake but wow what a stunningly beautiful spot !!!! we never knew it existed and once we got out there (on a somewhat bumpy narrow dusty dirt road with idiot drivers who clearly don't know how to pull over or drive on... Quick and easy to get to from Qtown, beautiful off the main highway thing to do, so you don't get the couch potatoes out here. Easy walking around the lake, allow 2 hours easy walking. It is a beautiful part of the world. Sorry no shops or fast food outlets out here. BUT boy the beer tastes sweet when you... More

A great area. I stayed overnight in the DOC-campsite and really enjoyed it. The mountains are beautiful and you have the company of sheep and cows :)

This is a crazy beautiful area. The horse ride is well organized and good for all ages. They did separate the better riders from the beginners which was greatly appreciated. This allowed us to do more fun riding without the restrictions of having to go at a laborious pace. I'd def recommend requesting this. If you're adventurous and you're stuck... More

A little off the main track but what a great spot. Overnight camping available or just a great day visit.

Lovely and unknown location to relax in summer and enjoy a warmer swim than the wakatipu lake! It is an unsealed road the get there but still accessible.

I am from Denmark, and travelled in New Zealand by car in 2012. The place I think back on with probably the most joy, if that is even possible, is Moke Lake. We spent several nights in this place and it is just so beautiful and such a quiet and peaceful place. You need to spend a night there sometime,... More

Lovely drive in to the lake, great scenery and walk. Unfortunately a bit late in the season for a swim in the lake.
