There are a number of tracks that follow the Arrow River from Arrowtown out to the White Chapel Bridge. Few wee hills. Can do a loop run.
This is a beautiful gem within a area that is famous for it's beauty. Not as spectacular as the surrounding mountains and lakes, the Arrow River is nevertheless very pretty and there is a lovely easy walk (4.2km) that loops out from the town centre and back. Great thing to do with the kids - plenty of places to skim... More
Lovely, tranquil setting. The views are not as spectacular from the Arrow River Millenium walkway as from other parts of the district, but they're still wonderful. The adjacent Arrowtown village has been kept to a 19th century gold rush theme with a number of good wee cafes. Charming area for a nearby quiet break from the busy touristy Queenstown.
This is the place to go when the weather is hot! A river with actual swimming holes.... ropes hanging from trees and all. Beautifully clean (like most the rivers on the South Island) and inviting. Perfect for a nice and easy stroll but with so much to do in Queenstown and its surrounding area I wouldn't rank this too highly on the to-do list. Nice walk if you have time, but you're not missing out on too much if you skip this attraction
We went for a very chilly Winter stroll along the Arrow River last week. Heavy frosts made for a real winter wonderland. Beautiful part of the country and right across the road from Arrowtown's shops and cafes.
We enjoyed strolling along the river. It was very peaceful. There were children paddling in the water and a few dogs fetching sticks. Lupins grew along the banks. A memorable walk.
The river was a little dry when we were there, so it was not pretty. But the historical meaning of the area gave it some atmosphere of tranquility. We had a nice picnic there. Lots of people out with their dogs.
We went on a day visit to arrowtown, the best time to go is Autumn when all the tree's are changing colour.Lot's of people go to get some good photo's,of the scenery at this time of the year..Lovely town that has kept a lot of it's history regarding the goldmine day's.Well worth a day trip, and to walk the tracks along the...
