Would certainly recommend a visit to this lovely old town in the Czech Republic. It has maintained its character from times gone by and the castle as well as the setting along the river and the old town are quite special.

A well preserve small town with medieval charm. 80% of the charm comes from the castle, 10% from the town, and 10% from the hotel/pension you stay. The outside of the castle is much more impressive than the inside. If you arrive when the inside rooms of the castle are close for visitors , no big deal, you can still...

if visiting the Czech Republic, you must spend at least a whole day in Cesky Krumlov. It is the quintessential medieval old town with stunning architecture and castles and rivers and restaurants.
What a delightful small village that takes you back into mid evil day of the Czech history. This Bohemian architecture is a sight to behold. This town is on the way from Prague to Salzburg and well worth the visit. WE spent an hour touring and could have spent at least another hour in the town.
Came via the Student Agency Bus; comfortable and easy 3 hours or less over and same going back. Jem of a town, Two Mary's and Laibon perfect place for lunch or afternoon pick me up. Have a Banana Split at Mona Lisa, hey your on vacation! We bought here; sterling jewelrey, antique Christmas ornaments, post cards, food, bloody Mary's, beer...

I have visited Krumlov at least three times, winter, summer, day and night…. I am still very impressed by this medieval town and castle. This is a place to visit if you travel to Check Republic, about 2H30 from Prague by car, to my opinion one of the most romantic place that I know.
What a quaint town, narrow streets, everyone was nice, beautiful parks - I had forgotten how lovely real birdsong is.
This area was, miraculously, not bombed during any wars. The buildings go back to the middle ages, and the whole ambience is very enjoyable. The shops sell some tourist-y things, but there are also good local handicrafts and delicious gingerbread -- a specialty of the area. And good beer!
This is one of those charming little European towns that you have to be grateful are so well preserved and maintained. My wife and I spent two days here and spent hours just walking around. We probably saw the castle from every possible angle. The town has several wonderful viewpoints over the river and castle, and lots of nice restaurants...
