It is always lovely in Krakow's main market square. Even more so when the Christmas market is on, very atmospheric. There is nothing to dislike.
What can I say?.........the market square is abousolutely gorgeous! Its like taking a step back in time.......especially at Xmas! The lights and atmosphere are truly magical, not to mention the lovely hot mulled wine! This really was one of the best trips I've been on! Enjoy! X x
This was the first time i have been to Krakow and i loved it here, the main square is very nice, Great for sitting at one of the many caffe's and taking in the scenery of all buildings. It is very clean and so much to see, and with the xmas markets made the atmosphere here better.
We visited the square soon after our arrival in the city about lunchtime. The Square was a clean, open area, which is free of most traffic. In the centre is the Cloth Hall with it central aisle of market stalls, selling local items for souvenirs etc. The Cathedral is near by and well worth a visit. The square is bordered... More
Cafés, shops, food, atmosphere, this market got it all. Surrounding restaurants probably the towns best, with classical and antique buildings. This square is a must see in Krakow, together with the old castle.

I have travelled to many cities and this town square is gorgeous. Clean with lots of cafe bars and good quality restaurants. Some have patio heaters which will be a big plus when the temperatures drops in winter
Difficult to say which time of day this square looks best, lit up at night with the Christmas Market in full swing, the smell of mulled wine and the tasty dumplings, singers on stage and twinkling lights everywhere or by day where you could enjoy a stroll through the arcades of the Cloth Hall and admire the stunning architecture. We loved the square, the Christmas market added to the overall feeling but the architecture is lovely, the people are friendly and the horse and carriages beautiful to see. There was a stage where people in national costume performed local folk songs, despite the language barrier we could feel the fun atmosphere. Great fun!
traffic free at weekends and restrictions for cars appear to apply at other times. Beautiful architecture. Look out for the bugler just after the church bells chime the hour.
