We purchased tickets for the Big Bus tour which is a great hop on hop off tour of Budapest. This service takes you almost to the statue which is a short walk away. Amazing views and great photo opportunities.

great views up here of Budapest. Up there is multiple picture points! Also there is the citadel which houses a WW2 air raid bunker which is only £4 each to get in, which includes wax works. Worth walking up but if not you can get a taxi or bus.
A rather braising walk up the hill from the gellert hotel but worth it and the panoramic view is fantastic frequented by young lovers who enjoy a drink and a picnic.
I started at the Gellert hotel and walked up the hill to the citadel. There is a bunker used by the Nazis, complete with pictures and reconstructions, which is worth the trip. Also the artillery and the views make it a good visit. I went up and over and came down the far side, through lovely parks and pathways to...

Worth going up to check out the statue, but don't miss the very famous Gellert Hotel whilst in the area! Don your costumes and swim amongst statues, columns and gargoyle fountains and go right back in time. Lots of swimming pools in this hotel and also lots of really warm thermal baths both inside and on the rooftop where lunch...

If you are taking the castle-Citadel route, this bit of art-meets-history is on your way and should be checked out. The problem is, the monument...

I knew I wanted to stand under the statue from the first day in Budapest, but getting there is a challenge if you don't have hop-on-off ticket. There is a public bus (number 27) going to the top of the hill, but the initial stop in the city is hard to find.
The view is very nice and it's good...

You get a nice view from Pest near the statue. You can sit there too. The walk up is not too long and the hill not too steep.
A great place to walk in Budapest (if you don't mind walking uphill!). The paths seem to wind on forever! It's peaceful to walk among the tree tops, listening to the birds.
Our kids really enjoyed exploring the hill. On the south side there are some good playgrounds about half-way up. Bring water and a snack and enjoy the free...
