I visit every time that I am in DC. The collection is superb, both the Old masters and the Modern ones. The East Wing building is a work of art in itself. Take a tour with one of the docents, they are free (as is the Museum) and very informative and educational, and not at all tiresome. It is a very... More

I was expecting beautiful art...i was not expecting such a beautiful building!! I was there from 1000-1300 on a wednesday and was surprised how empty it was...all the young students must be at the NASM or Natural History museum. The garden courts and rotunda are gorgeous and very relaxing. When traveling, ones time is valuable. In our short time in... More

I have been to The National Gallery maybe ten or fifteen times. It's free and their permanent exhibits are remarkable. They are by far maybe the best Museum in the World. Up there with The Louvre, The Uffizi and The Vatican Museums. The exhibit I saw in April 2013 was The Pre Raphealites. Extraordinary. Remarkable. Beautiful. Just go. It's not... More

Such a wonderful experience. Go if you get the chance and take a tour by one of the docents. The Sculpture Garden is great.

We wondered into this gallery to give our feet a small break after walking. We were so surprised by the joy that we experienced as we viewed the art galleries and the remarkable art. Priceless.

It's not enough that this Smithsonian is rife with beautiful works of art (in all forms); what is equally fascinating is the magnificent building, in particular the marble rotunda. Wow, it's a work of art in itself, as so many of the structures in D.C. Back to the art, there is something for everyone's taste and when needing a rest... More

What a gift to have free admission to the Natl Gallery with its east and west buildings as well as a unique sculpture garden! The art speaks for itself: permanent collections and special exhibits are always well curated. The Calder room is worth finding in the east wing. Travel light as there is a security check. The buildings are massive,... More

This exhibit was on loan from the Tait Gallery in London and moves on to Moscow after May 19. It was much larger than anticipated and very well done. The cafeteria at the National Gallery was a nice surprise with a very large selection. Everything we had there was fresh and well-prepared. In addition, admission is free.

I've been wanting to visit here for several years and it didn't disappoint. The special preraphielan exhibit was great. The regular collection was also amazing and diverse. The staff is very friendly. Even the security guards were helpful in directing us to the museum highlights. Another thing I liked about this museum is that the paintings are hung low so... More

I basically love their impressionist collection and how it is arranged. Also enjoy the modern section in the west building. Pretty good free wifi in the hallways.
