Another way to see how this area developed and why the gold rush played such a huge part in California history. Angels Camp is a great little town. You can go then to Sonora/Jamestown and ride the old train which is another wonderful trip for adults and children alike.

We did both Museums on the same day, and we were amazed at how much better the one in San Andreas was. It’s just a few miles north on 49. You can’t see it from the road, but you park on Main Street a half block north of Hwy 49, across the street from the Black Bart Inn. ANGELS CAMP... More

This is a small but awesome museum. It has a very large variety of Gold Country history. If in Angels Camp be sure and take the time to go thru it.

We had a lot of fun! There is enough for young kids to do and for adults. The history piece along with the artifacts made this a fun learning experience.

The museum was closed when we came by on our last vacation and seeing it was a major reason for our basing this November trip in Angels Camp. Bring the kids, they have 1950s admission prices and lots of photo ops! The staff members were friendly and expert guides: we learned that Angels Camp had a camp of Chinese panners... More

Want to know about gold and history in Angel's Camp? This is the place to learn. Gems include the rare steam tractor at the front and the 36-inch hard rock core, an artifact of Angel's incredible mining heritage!

We took our grandchildren here and they had a great time. The museum is small, but extremely interesting with regard to the history of Angel Camp. The carriage house had several carriages and a hearse from the "olden days".

If you enjoy the history of the California gold rush, this is a great little museum. Arranged well, lots of different items on display and well maintained.

This museum looks small from the front but actually houses five building plus outdoor exhibits. Docents were very knowledgable and able to give a great overview in a short amount of time. They are in the midst of adding a wi-fi compatible system for touring and research. This would be a great site for classes on 4th grade California history... More

Fun museum with tons of history. Covers everything from Mark Twain to goldmining to carriages. Docents were so much fun and willing to share their knowledge. There was a scavenger hunt for the kids. Good shady picnic area in the parking area. One of our favorite stops in the Calaveras.
