we took a the in this street, when we went outside of the bar we saw a lot of posters "welcome to freak street" and we understood where we was...nothing special but near durbar square..
I recommend seeing what was once the hippiest street in Kathmandu. There are shops selling bohemian type clothing and a big smokers accessory shop.. outside of this shop are peddlers which can cater to your smoking needs. Actually, there's no comparison between then. Jhhonchen Tole is now the OLD Freak Street, as everything is focused on Thamel. Few handicrafts shops, clothes, trekking gear and lots of cheap guest houses. Its much more quieter than Thamel, even at night.
