we caught local ferry across to Wat Arun (very cheap indeed) and did manage to hike up the very very steep steps - well worth it too! It was great to be able to get somewhat of a birds eye view of the river area and bangkok. more

It's a beautiful temple to visit. If you take the boat to get here, be aware that you need to pay a 'landing fee' when you got there. The steps going up the temples are steep - do take care! If you're not fit just stay on the ground and enjoy the intricate details of the temple. more

Like a small part of Angkor Wat, and looks good from the river despite some of the surroundings. Bit in truth closeup a little dowdy compared with all the hype in the guidebooks. Older people were struggling getting down the steep steps. more

Directly across the river from Wat Pho is this 5 spired Khmer styled tower. The corners are surrounded by 4 smaller prangs. It's not as fancy/colorful as Wat Pho or Grand Palace, but still worth a look. You can grab a ferry across the river from the port near Wat Pho for about THB 10 (pennies). Oh, and don't try to climb the sides of the temple, the guy will get angry... more

I have been to Bangkok several times and during this recent trip, I finally got to see Wat Arun. It was stunning! The craftmanship is amazing. It was very ornate. The view was breath taking once you make it up the steep stairs. Walking down those stairs was very scary. It was steep. I don't recommend walking up the temple... more
