Caught a taxi here expecting a grand amazing pagoda and was highly disappointed. It is run down, smells and the tortoise "sanctuary" looks more like a cruel cage overloaded with the poor creatures. I would not recommend anyone go to this poor rundown pagoda, much other nicer ones around the town and anywhere. more

It's a little hard to find; we took a taxi but he wasn't sure about the English 'Emperor Jade Pagoda' - so either have it on the map or have a street name. The place is interesting and very much a temple still in use, although it attracts many western tourists as well. more

Totally worth a visit. Enter the smoky interiors of the temple and be transported into another dimension. On the left hall, the jade emperor and his subordinates watch over the hall. In the same hall, the wood carvings tell of the different sins and the retributions..freaky! In another hall, there are deities surronded by little figurines representing children.
