Easy to get to; adequate parking. We were there for the Herod exhibit and spent nearly two hours on that alone; very well presented and fascinating material. Same for the permanent archaeology wing. Then the painting wing also is a can't miss; the Picasso alone are worth the visit. Leave time for the excellent sculpture garden!

Besides housing the scrolls, the museum has seven rooms that trace out the history of the peoples who occupied Palastine from around 10,000 BC to present. Each room is basically devoted to a particular era and the summaries are concise and informative. If you have any interest in history, this museum will be a joy for you.

Israel Museum is a must see when visiting Jerusalem. The grounds are stunning. The exhibits cover artwork and historical artifacts across all of history. Dead Sea Scrolls, Aleppo Codex, replica of old city of Jerusalem, one afternoon is not enough time to see everything.

This museum besides being a beautiful structure, the treasures that houses are amazing. I did not give myself enough time to see it all. Need at least 5 hrs

The temporary exhibit on Herodium is outstanding and if you can get there during its stay (until 1/4/14) you will be astounded by this special exhibit.
