A good overview of what life in the desert was like prior to all the development, but the few animals present are undernourished.

While on the "Big Red Bus" tour of Abu Dhabi, I got off at "Heritage Village". I assumed it would be like all the "recreation villages" I've visited in the States but it wasn't. Its kind of hokey. There's an older Arab gentleman with his old camel (who does a great trick...when you take his picture, the camel turns his...

I think it is easy to get lost in the splendor of the UAE, but is nice to have the opportunity to view a bit of the history.
Loved the chance to touch and feel and soak in some heritage in this land that is forever zipping into the future on the fastest lane. Beautiful old sea pearl divers village, restored and reinvented as a tourist circuit introduction the dubai's past and traditions. A lovely day outing, with a guided tour, at a leisurely pace, with enough interactions,...

The idea was great. I was handed a falcon to hold and then told it cost 10 d. It would have been nice to know before. Also, the women's room has holes in the floor to use as toilets. Sorry, as an American that doesn't cut it.
We didn't really enjoy this much, but it depends what you like. There was a carpet making area, a few animals and a little bit of history but not our idea of fun.
nothing much to see.. a few "fake" shops for tourists .. small (did the all thing in 20 minutes taking our time)... do not expect to use ladies room there unless you are ready to wait... and a tip: taxis are not easy to catch there! overall deceiving and boring...
Worth visiting to get a brief insight into the historical culture of the region. There is an interesting little museum with examples of historic costume/items etc, and photos showing the development of the city. There are a couple of tiny examples of how old houses would have been. It's a shame that such a wealthy country couldn't have set up...

I can't imagine that Abu Dhabi intends to completely white-wash its history and culture, but unfortunately, this tiny corner is all it has to offer. It feels cheap, and while it feels old and lacking, at the same time, the visitor doesn't so much feel left wanting, and feeling betrayed. A visitor doesn't feel any closer to the history or...
