You don't have to care about gold to love this museum. The culture expressed through these beautiful and at times playful objects is rich and mesmerizing.
If you travel to Bogotá, make sure to visit this museum, is in downtown, and if you aré there around lunch time, use the restaurant, it is very good.
An incredible collection of Colombian Gold that will blow your mind away. It is more extensive than the Gold Museum in Lima. A must see.
This museum is top-notch with mind-blowing exhibits. I couldn't believe how many gold relics were there.This was amazing–from the video exhibits to the classy displays of historical pieces–all for less than 3USD. Wow.
We hired a driver for the day from our hotel, and one of the first places we came was the gold museum. I must admit, it's not the sort of place I could stay for hours, and we cut the tour short - skipping some sections entirely. But it was very interesting, and there were some great items on display
Amazing amount of gold sculptures and antiquities on display. We learned a lot. Would have liked to understand more of the indigenas' mining and processing methods. We speak some Spanish, but the English signage was helpful. Great gift shop... Not over-priced as is usual.
This is a common problem of Bogota's museums souvenir shops, they sell $12 (US dollars) magnets. Please be reasonable, c'mon. Other than that, I really liked the collection of the museum. If you are into mining and metallurgy, you will like it.
