Lovely structure... was receiving a face lift at the time in preparation for Carifesta... yet it was a lovely sight...
I love the whole town of Paramaribo and this is a great example of the buildings around town just on a whole 'nother level! Located opposite the Fort this will make a good addition to a walking/cycling tour around the city.
They are in the middle of refurbishing the building. Loved the wooden Dutch structures that are a century or more old, that make up the downtown area. I am surprised they never burned down.
Seems like much of Paramaribo is being repaired. The palace was also covered in scaffolding for touch up and fixing. It is a very nice looking building, all white with a striking front facade. We could not go inside, but could tell it was ornate.
This is a really beautiful building. Especially if you come in the evening when it's lit up as well. They haven't overdone it with the lights, but it adds something to it. It's close to the boardwalk where you can get some nice local good and drinks as well.
The presidential Palace is momentarily under refurbishment construction , a visit is not possible at this moment
It looks ok from the outside, needs more work done though. They have kept it as the original colonial palace but I think palace is a bit of an overstatement! Needs to be updated!
